Hang Gliding
training

…from basic ground exercises, through short flights, to fully independent, controlled flight.

A few words about hang gliding...

Hang gliding dates back to the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The first designs—classic delta-wing hang gliders—have since evolved significantly.

Modern hang gliders are highly efficient, offer excellent control, and are designed with a strong focus on safety. Built from lightweight materials, they allow pilots to cover long distances by skillfully using thermal lift. You can practice hang gliding in both mountainous and flat terrain. Launches are performed into the wind from designated, properly prepared sites such as hang gliding ramps.

Depending on your experience and conditions, you may perform ridge, thermal, or gliding flights. In mountainous areas, launches are made on foot, running into the wind until takeoff.

On flat terrain, launches are typically achieved via towing systems using ultralight aircraft, powered hang gliders, winches, cars equipped with appropriate tow systems, or even motorboats.

Takeoff can be performed on foot or with the help of a wheeled undercarriage or wheels mounted to the control frame, depending on the setup.

Flying high

4 training camps

The training is divided into a minimum of four training sessions (each session lasts 2-3 days). Training program:

  • flying high

  • perfecting the execution of turns on a large radius, then on a smaller one with a greater wing camber,

  • improving landing techniques in a designated area,

  • emergency and dangerous situations.

What does the training look like?

Hang gliding training takes more time than paragliding training.

A significant advantage is the possibility of tandem flights, which help you

get used to altitude, speed, and control.

You will need approximately 14–20 days of suitable flying weather to complete the training program.

During the course, you will learn how a hang glider is built and how to prepare

the equipment for flight. You will also learn how to handle and move the glider on flat terrain.

Basic piloting skills are first developed on a special flight simulator

(a training rig with a suspended hang glider mounted on a boom). Next, using a hang glider

equipped with large wheels, you will perform

your first assisted glides on a gentle slope, supported by side safety lines. Flights will gradually

become longer and higher, and your movements and takeoffs will become more confident and precise.

Over time, you will learn to maintain proper speed and heading control.

Before progressing to higher slopes, you will attend specialized theoretical lectures.

On higher slopes, you will begin high flights, learning to perform turns of 45, 90, and 180 degrees,

as well as circular flight patterns.

After completing the required number of flights and airtime, you will take

an internal examination followed by a state exam.

Once you obtain your Hang Gliding Pilot Certificate, it is recommended to continue

developing your skills under instructor supervision in Stage 3 training—thermal and ridge soaring.

Never fly alone.

Thermal and soaring flights

You are a certified pilot, take part in refresher training.

We will teach you:

  • searching for vertical lifts,

  • centering chimneys to obtain height,

  • covering longer distances - XC flights.

We perform our first thermal flights in calm conditions, on a suitable slope and landing site.

The instructor will select a training and coaching program depending on weather conditions and your experience.

Powered training

Powered flying is true air tourism.

You can fly far and high, low and slow… .

If you live in the lowlands or don't want to take off in the mountains, master the technique of flying a powered hang glider (a harness with a power unit—either a combustion or electric engine or a trike—to which the wing is attached). You can take off from any nearby meadow or clearing.

The training includes:

theoretical lectures,

  • ground activities – technical maintenance of the power unit,

  • practice starts,

  • flight training: straight flights, circling flights and navigation flights.

The training ends with an exam and a certificate of completion.

Important information

Classes take place on weekends, weekdays, and during holidays, according to the training

and trip schedule. The dates provided are approximate and may change

due to unfavorable weather conditions.

We also run training sessions whenever flying conditions are suitable. Students who are enrolled in

a course or already in progress are informed about additional days when training can begin or continue.

For Stage I, the school provides all necessary equipment and covers liability insurance (OC)

for a period of one month.

At Stage II, training is conducted on the student’s own equipment (rental from the school is available).

Scheduling is arranged individually. Liability insurance must be purchased by the student pilot.

We also provide guidance in selecting equipment appropriate to your skill level.

For training, please bring footwear that supports the ankle (preferably hiking boots),

loose sports clothing, headwear such as a scarf or buff to wear under your helmet,

an ID document, writing materials, and a notebook.

To make a reservation, simply send us an email with your preferred date and your contact details

(name, surname, phone number). In our reply, we will confirm availability and provide bank details

for a reservation fee of 600 PLN per stage (group training) and 1000 PLN (one-to-one training).

A 5% discount is offered when paying for the full training package (Intro, Stage I, and Stage II).
